Tocopherylacetat ist der am häufigsten verwendete Ester von α-Tocopherol (Vitamin E) und dient als stabilisiertes Antioxidans in kosmetischen Formulierungen. Es schützt Lipide der Hautmembranen vor oxidativer Schädigung durch freie Radikale und UV-Strahlung und wird in der Haut zum aktiven Tocopherol hydrolysiert.
