Tris-Biphenyl Triazine
INCI: tris-biphenyl triazine
Tris biphenyl triazine (TBPT) is one of the newest UV filters, EU-approved in 2014. As a large triazine molecule it delivers powerful UVB absorption with excellent photostability and, due to its molecular size, negligible skin penetration. TBPT’s strengths shine in water-resistant and sport formulas, where its insolubility keeps the protective film intact. It is permitted up to 10% in the EU. Its cosmetic challenge — a tendency to whitening at high loads — is managed in refined dispersions. Found in premium European sunscreens, it complements UVA filters for full-spectrum defence with a modern safety margin.
