Tocotrienols
INCI: tocotrienols
Tocotrienols are the lesser-known half of the vitamin E family, distinguished by an unsaturated side chain that allows them to move through cell membranes up to fifty times faster than tocopherols. They are exceptionally potent scavengers of lipid peroxyl radicals, protect against UV-induced oxidative damage, and show promising anti-inflammatory and skin-repair effects in emerging research. Because plant sources are rare — mainly palm, rice bran, and annatto — tocotrienols appear mostly in premium antioxidant serums, usually at 0.1–0.5%. They are best combined with vitamin C for network antioxidant regeneration. Ideal for pollution-exposed, prematurely ageing, or environmentally stressed skin.
