Polyglutamic Acid (PGA)
INCI: polyglutamic acid
Polyglutamic acid is a fermented biopolymer (from natto bacillus) that binds up to five times more water than hyaluronic acid and forms a moisture-locking film that also inhibits hyaluronidase — the enzyme that degrades the skin’s own HA. This dual action (superior hydration plus HA preservation) makes PGA the most interesting new humectant of recent years. At 0.1–0.5% it delivers immediate plumping, improves elasticity, and extends the effect of HA serums layered underneath. Its luxurious, slightly cushiony texture enhances serum feel. Suitable for all skin types; combine with sodium hyaluronate for a genuinely synergistic hydration stack.
